Firearms Training Courses

No firearms experience needed! Our classes are recommended for people who are interested in learning about firearms and learning to shoot or even just thinking about purchasing a firearm. The class begins with the language of different types of firearms and ammunition. Safe firearm handling is introduced and stressed from the beginning of the courses all the way until you become a confident marksman.

Basic

This course is designed for the new shooter and even seasoned shooters to bring you the most up to date techniques when it comes to safe firearm handling skills and shooting fundamentals through dry fire and live fire training techniques.

Students will gain the knowledge and abilities for the following:

  • Firearm Terminology

  • Different Types of Handguns and Rifles

  • The Firearm Cycle of Operation

  • Ammunition

  • Safe firearm handling skills

  • How to properly load and unload a firearm

  • Firearm fundamentals of shooting

  • Live fire malfunction clearing

Required Gear for the course:

  • Handgun or Rifle of a common caliber that the operator can easily control

  • 50 rounds of ammo per person

  • Minimum of 1-2 magazines per weapon

  • A case for your weapon

Rifle Specific Requirements:

  • A modern sporting rifle of the AR-15 or M4 platform in 5.56 or .223 caliber. AR pistols

  • Iron sights, red dot style or low power variable optics

  • All rifles must be up to date in ATF regulations

Safety Gear and Other Requirements:

  • Safety glasses and hearing protection (we can provide complimentary if needed)

  • NO open-toed shoes, tennis shoes or hiking shoes are recommended

  • NO Sleeveless shirts or low cut shirts

  • Hats are also recommended for your safety

  • Note pad and pen

Home and Personal Protection

Home and Personal Protechtion is the second course in the training series. This course is designed for the seasoned shooter. It teaches the students how to operate and become proficient with the most up to date advanced techniques with their firearm and gear.

Students will gain the knowledge and abilities for the following:

  • Firearm Terminology

  • Fundamental Refresher

  • Learn how to set up your gear for success

  • The safe and proper techniques for drawing from a holster (Handgun Only)

  • Learn how to follow up your shots with strings of fire through proper recoil management

  • Learn how to shoot using instinctive shooting, flash sight picture, and point shooting.

  • Learn how to reload your weapon

  • Footwork for pivoting and moving and shooting

  • Engage multiple targets

  • Learn how to find your balance for both speed and accuracy.

Required Gear for the course: 

  • Handgun or Rifle of a common caliber that the operator can easily control

  • 250 rounds of ammo per person

  • Minimum of 2-3 magazines per weapon

  • A case for your weapon

  • Magazine carriers for your belt are highly recommended

  • A sturdy belt (NO canvas or flimsy belts)

  • Strong OWB (outside the waistband) holster

  • Kydex or Leather, the holster must be stiff and must have full cover over the trigger. (NO Black Hawk or Serpa Style Holsters with a button release trigger lock, FOBUS or paddle style holsters, shoulder holsters or nylon holsters. If you are unsure, you should be able to holster and unholster without the use of your support hand.)

Defensive

Our Defensive Course is meant to help teach students a different style format when it comes to the defensive use of their weapon. This course will cover at home emergency planning, shooting in different positions, utilizing cover and concealment, learning your equipment and accessories and how to apply techniques to your advantage, malfunction clearing, and getting into a practical defensive mindset that is often overlooked.

Students will gain the knowledge and abilities for the following: Training will be done with Simunitions.

  • How to build and develop a defensive mindset

  • Threat level assessment

  • Firearm Arm Laws

  • Apply different shooting techniques using threat level assessment

  • Learn how to scan your area after an incident and how to retain as much information as possible.

  • How to shoot from different body positions using manipulation techniques

  • Scenario based live fire drills

  • Clear malfunctions and apply reloads during scenario based training

  • Verbal Communication

  • Strong side & Weak Side Shooting Techniques

  • Close Quarter Shooting Techniques

 Students will also learn first-aid & emergency fundamentals, the justified uses of deadly force and the importance of AVOID, ESCAPE & DEFEND.
